A little visitor

Last Friday, the kids and I went to the local high school football game. It was Homecoming and the kiddo’s preschool class had been talking about it all week – they even had the football  players come and visit one day, so the kiddo really wanted to go to the game. Unfortunately, the game didn’t go well for the local team, but the kids had fun.

When we got home, we had to let the dog out to potty. I noticed she was sniffing what looked like a shadow in the grass and kind of pulled her head back quickly when the shadow jumped.

I went to see what she was looking at and found this little guy!

A cute little frog! (I had him in my hands and he jumped out under the dryer vent, so he got a little fuzzy and dirty.)

It made sense, the night had been very wet, stopping just short of all-out raining, and I could hear them singing in the neighbors’ yards. I’d caught lots of toads before, but never a little sticky frog.

The kids loved him, though they didn’t want to get too close. They loved that he jumped and stuck on the wall.

He was a little guy – probably not even 3″ long, but so pretty.

Once we’d inspected him and watched him jump and climb around a little bit, I picked him up and put him back outside, so be with his friends. I think everyone was happy!

My kids LOVE those tree frongs! We have one that likes to stick to our sliding glass door off our breakfast room. They think it’s the coolest thing ever!
