Happy Birthday Baby Girl!

October 1, 2010

The kidlet turned two today.

Two! I can’t believe it’s been two years and one day since we had an ultrasound at my 39 week appointment that showed we were having a gigantic baby and my OB decided I needed to have the baby the next day.

This is what she looked like two years ago, all 10lb 6.5oz of her.

She was (and still is) a big girl.

I fell in love immediately. Don’t most all mothers, though? Especially with baby girls?

Girlfriend was more serious than her brother (as evidenced here by her sweet rendition of Blue Steel that would make Derek Zoolander jealous).

She didn’t smile as early or as often as her brother did, but when she did, it was pure sweetness.

She had the chubbiest cheeks and most roly poly thighs.

Oh nelly, I loved those thighs.

She has a brilliant personality, even if she is opinionated, independent and rather often looks like this:

But she is also goofy and silly and also often looks like this:

We had a lovely party for her last year where she got to dress up in a pretty tutu made by her Aunt (my middle sister)

And eat delicious cake also made by her awesome Aunt.

I have loved watching her grow and change over the past two years. She is such a sweetheart and loves taking care of her babies.

Loves to play,

And always dresses her best, even if it’s just for yardwork (don’t you mow your lawn in a diaper and espadrilles?).

or lounging in her folding camping chair.

She’s not afraid to discover the world on her own

And will let you know with a look if she doesn’t agree with what you want her to do. I think it’s the red hair, personally.

Oh my sweetheart. I’m sure we’ll have our arguments when you’re older, but I love you forever. Happy Birthday,
