Expanded family

November 8, 2011

Kid #3 made his way into the world Friday night. It was a fairly routine affair, at least for us. My OB wanted to induce on suspicion of cholestasis (if you’re pregnant, don’t Google it. It will only freak you out). As I was induced with the kidlet due to her massive size, I wasn’t concerned about the process. In fact, being induced actually made it easier in order to arrange for my parents to watch the kiddos while we were at the hospital.

So at 6:30 am Friday morning, we headed up to the nearest big city to “get the baby party started” as the hub put it. I labored for roughly eight hours, and got my obligatory The Princess Bride watching in.

I’ll spare you the details, but kid3 was born at 6:32 pm, weighing 8 lbs 9 oz and measuring 21.5″ inches long. Compared to the other two, he’s the runt of the family. I wasn’t really surprised when they called out “it’s a boy!” I think deep down I had a feeling he was a he, but I so wanted the kidlet to have a sister that I held out hope for another little girl. I think we’re about 97% sure that we are done having kids, so she may never get one, which does make me kind of sad. Plus, I miss all the cute, frou-frou baby girl clothes. Boys clothes aren’t nearly as fun to shop for.

Big sister!

Hey little guy!

We’re adjusting to life as a family of five. The hub has been able to take a short break from farm work for a few days and help around the house. The kiddo and kidlet have also been very understanding that I am generally going to be parked on the couch/chair/rocking chair nursing kid3. My parents have helped out a ton, from watching the kids to my mom making enough meals to last a week so I don’t have to worry about cooking.

What wonderful pictures. He’s a beautiful baby. I can’t believe he’s the runt though. Mine weren’t that big for months!
